SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION POLICY

In accordance with the ISM code, the objectives of PENINSULAR MARITIME INDIA PVT LTD. are to:

  • Comply with mandatory' rules and regulations
  • Provide for safe practices in vessel operation and a safe working environment, to prevent the human injury and loss of life of its employees and the general public
  • Operate in a manner to avoid damage to the environment in particular to the marine environment
  • Assess all identified risks to its ships, personnel and the environment and establish safeguards against identified risks
  • Protect the vessel, its cargo and the public property
  • Continuously improve the safety management skills of personnel ashore and aboard company vessels, including preparation for emergencies that are related to both safety and environmental protection.
  • Take into consideration the codes, guidelines and standards recommended by the IMO, classification societies, flag state and maritime industry organizations and applicable to the nature of company relevant operations while maintaining high efficiency in providing quality (e.g. marine transportation services) to its Customers.

The objectives of the Company are fulfilled by :

  • Recruitment of duly qualified and competent staff both onboard and ashore.
  • Appointing duly qualified and competent DPA, Alternate DPA ashore and Safety Officer onboard.
  • Preparing drill plan for shore staff and vessel covering all the emergencies that may be anticipated. By ensuring these drills are carried out as per the drill plan both onboard and ashore. By reviewing the drills that have been carried out.
  • Carrying out regular safety meetings onboard and Master’s SMS review.
  • Carrying out proper investigation/review/analysis, taking preventive and corrective action for all incidents as near miss, accidents, hazardous occurrences, non-conformities and observations.
  • Carrying out Safety meetings and Management review meetings ashore.
  • Carrying out Internal and External audit onboard and ashore.
  • Identifying training needs both onboard and ashore.
  • Imparting regular training both onboard and ashore.
  • Encouraging staff onboard and ashore to identify new risks that are not covered by Company’s SMS
  • Regularly updating Company’s SMS based on safety meetings onboard and ashore, Master’s SMS review, risk assessments, Management review, Internal and External audit reports, etc.
  • Continually incorporating new rules/legislations of IMO, flag state, classification societies and other bodies governing marine safety and environment protection in the Company’s SMS.
